Wood shop with Mr. Olivieri

The Wood Shop club runs Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 and is open to all students in Grades 6-8. The club offers an exciting, hands-on experience in woodworking. In this program, students learn to use a variety of tools safely and effectively, while working on projects that develop both creativity and problem-solving skills. Beginners will start with simple projects like toothbrush holders and tower blox, while more advanced students can take on birdhouses, chairs, bookcases, and more. As students build, they’ll gain confidence in their abilities, learn how to adapt and problem-solve, and have the freedom to put their own creative spin on each project. Whether you're new to woodworking or already have some experience, there's a place for you!

Art Club with Ms. Powers

The Art Club is a creative space where students in grades 6-8 explore different art forms, develop their artistic skills, and express themselves freely. Members participate in hands-on projects, collaborate on group artworks, and learn new techniques in drawing, painting, and crafts. The club encourages creativity, experimentation, and a supportive community for all artists—beginners and experienced alike. Art Club is also an opportunity for our students who are looking to apply to an arts specialized high school to have more time to work on their portfolio submissions.

Ambassador Club with Ms. Attia

The Multicultural Ambassador Club at IS 303 aims to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our students while strengthening language, social, and leadership skills. Through monthly “Cultural Spotlights,” students collaboratively explore different countries and U.S. states, learning about traditions, geography, food, famous landmarks, and everyday language. The club also promotes respect, empathy, and pride in each student’s heritage, helping newcomer ELLs feel welcomed and connected to the school community.

During weekly meetings, students engage in hands-on projects such as posters, slideshows, flags, art, songs, and mini-presentations. They complete a passport booklet, collect stamps, and participate in cultural games and role-plays. By the end of the year, students become confident cultural ambassadors who can share knowledge, interact with peers from different backgrounds, and contribute meaningfully to our school’s inclusive climate. The expected outcome is a stronger sense of belonging, improved communication skills, and a school community that celebrates diversity with pride.
